We are pleased to announce that Family Law expert Peter M. Bryniczka, Esq., Partner, Schoonmaker, George & Blomberg, P.C., will be our guest speaker at our December 7th dinner meeting at Innis Arden Golf Club in Old Greenwich. This presentation will provide a thorough understanding of how various factors are considered when working with divorcing couples. An introduction will provide a definition of “property” subject to equitable distribution in dissolution of marriage cases in Connecticut and discuss the history and evolution of same; specifically, what types of interests typically constitute property, which do not, and why. Also discussed will be the application of that definition to a divorce litigant’s interest in a trust and whether it is property to be divided on divorce, when is it property and why, and when is it not property and why not.
