DESCRIPTION:\nDear Council Members:\n \nAs you know, we had to cancel our Annual Meeting in May due to Covid-19. Since that time, we sincerely hope that you and your families have remained safe and are doing well.\n \nThe Executive Committee recently met virtually to discuss how we can support our members and continue to provide educational programming. The first event that we’ll be presenting is our Annual Meeting in a virtual format on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, during which we will conduct the election of our 2020-2021 Slate of Officers and Directors (see attached, followed by the speaker presentations.\n \nRemote Execution of Estate Planning Documents\n \nThis discussion will address key provisions of the Connecticut and New York laws that have temporarily permitted remote execution of estate planning documents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our speaker, Katherine A. McAllister, J.D.,will highlight legal requirements, logistical challenges and best practices for these types of signings and will consider the long-term effects that may arise as a result. Kaufman, J.D., will provide an update on the Payment Protection Program (PPP), which authorized up to $349 billion in forgivable loans to small businesses to pay their employees during the COVID-19 crisis.
