DESCRIPTION:\nWe are pleased to announce that our next dinner meeting will be held in person on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Giovanni’s II/The Water’s Edge. We will kick off the meeting with cocktails and networking from 5:45pm to 6:30pm, followed by dinner and a presentation by Stacey McMahan, JD, CLU, ChFC on The Federal Estate Tax Exemption: Use It or Lose It.\n \nThe Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 temporarily doubled the federal estate and gift tax exemption. This presentation will discuss the opportunity to transfer at least an extra $5 million (indexed for inflation) for individuals and at least $10 million (indexed for inflation) for married couples. This session will also explore how wealthy individuals can take advantage of the temporarily increased federal estate tax exemption before 2026, to include using a Spousal Lifetime Access Trust (SLAT) and the role of life insurance.\n \nAttend this presentation to learn (1) Potential issues with respect to taking advantage of the temporarily increased federal estate tax exemption (2) Overcoming how to use the temporarily doubled estate tax exemption rather than losing it; and (3) Overcoming how to potentially retain control and access to the gifted assets using a SLAT.\n \nStacey McMahan, JD, CLU, ChFC, is a Senior Consultant in the Advanced Designs Department at Pacific Life Insurance Company. Stacey received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry Education from The Ohio State University and her Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.
